I opened the first Mitchel's Salon & Day Spa in 1983. And, like most of my customers, I was a salon client long before I became an owner. As a Cinicnnati native, and having experienced the salon atmosphere first hand, I wanted our city to have a salon that offered customers a more gracious, comfortable environment than was then available. A salon with hair styling stations that were more private, and one that included a true day spa, where clients could be relaxed and pampered. Thus Mitchell's became the first salon in Cincinnati with a waiting lounge separate of the working salon. And, the first salon to offer true day spa services.

In 1988, as we moved from our original location in Montgomery to a 12,000 square foot location in Kenwood, we were the third largest salon and day spa in the United States. Not bad for a mid size, midwest city. Since then, we have grown to five locations.

Mitchell's success and continued growth has helped to reinforce my vision of what people want from the salon experience. And the biggest part of that is talent. I am proud of the highly professional and artistic staff Mitchell's has developed, and of their constant desire to learn and perfect their craft. Education has been a top priority at Mitchell's since the beginning, and it is what has allowed us to grow and to become one of the most respected salons and spas in the country. Mitchell's will always have education as a top priority. Hair Designers are hired after graduating from cosmetology school and then must train with MItchell's for nine months, attending classes every Monday, and completing a rigourous schedule of models before they can graduate to our styling floor. Our hair designers are sought out by manufacturers to train other salons. They participate in many fashion photo shoots and continually share knowledge and techniques with the best hair designers from all over the country. Our spa personnel receive individual training in Mitchell's techniques and in all new spa services and products as they are developed. Our spa personnel are ranked with the best-trained spa technicians in the country. Our pedicurists have won many awards for the "best pedicure". We promise every customer that they will receive the highest quality service using the highest quality products available.

It has been quite a journey since 1983. The salon and spa industry has grown from small corner beauty shops and no day spas to wonderful salon/spa havens that cater to customers that cater to themselves. I am proud that Mitchell's has been and will continue to be a leader in the salon/spa industry.
